Bushkill Falls, PA

Last weekend I was in Bushkill Falls, PA for my future sister-in-law’s bachelorette party! We had a lovely weekend of hiking, cooking, and pretty much no cell phone service.

I wanted to share some of the photos from our hike while I tell you more!

First thing’s first: it’s dog friendly. Dogs are definitely allowed here, they just need to remain leashed the whole time. I also wouldn’t recommend any older dogs or dogs with very short legs, as there are stairs built into the trail everywhere. A ton of stairs.

Like, unless I was planing on carrying Lucky the whole day, this would not be the hike for him. He’d probably be down for the first three flights or so, then I’d be carrying my five pound good boy the rest of the hike.

One thing I noticed on our stroll was the volume… one second you’re listening to the burble and crash of the waterfall, the next it’s like you’re in an insulated bubble of complete and total silence. Some areas, all you could hear was a faint trickle of water, and maybe a nearby crack of a branch from another hiker.

I thought this little area where hikers threw in a penny for a wish was sweet.

There were four trails available ranging from a five minute walk to a two+ hour hike. As a group, we opted for the shorter 45 minute trail; I would definitely be interested in going back to do the full hike another day, though. The full two mile hike is supposed to feature eight (8!!!) waterfalls.

All-in-all, if you’re in the area of the Poconos, I would definitely recommend checking this out. They advertise it as “The Niagra of Pennsylvania”, and I think that’s a bit of a stretch. It’s a really beautiful and well-mapped hike, though.
